Light can be a powerful symbol of hope, healing, and renewal. Creating your own recovery lantern can remind you of your journey, your strength, and the light you carry within.
Materials:
Plastic tumbler (clear or translucent, clean and dry)
Tissue paper (various colors)
White glue or Mod Podge
Small brush or sponge applicator
LED tea light (battery-operated)
Optional: markers, printed words, affirmations, or small pictures
Instructions:
Prepare Your Lantern Base – Make sure your tumbler is clean and dry.
Decorate with Meaning – Tear or cut tissue paper into shapes. Using glue, layer the tissue paper on the outside of the tumbler.
Add Recovery Elements – Include words, affirmations, or pictures that represent your recovery journey—these can be glued on top of the tissue paper or integrated into the design.
Seal and Finish – Once your design is complete, brush a thin layer of glue over the surface to seal it. Let it dry completely.
Light It Up – Place the LED tea light inside the tumbler. Watch it flicker and glow, bringing light and warmth to your space.
Display with Intention – Keep your lantern somewhere visible—on a shelf, table, or windowsill—as a reminder of hope and progress.
Reflection Prompt:
As you work, think about the ways you bring light to your own life and to others. How does your lantern’s design tell the story of your recovery?
