Recovery from a mental health diagnosis requires self-compassion, kindness, diligence, and self-mastery. As a creative exercise write and illustrate a letter to yourself. You are the expert on your needs and desires. Tell yourself how much you are loved and anything else you think you would like to express to bring healing and express self-compassion. Put the letter in a self-addressed envelope and put in the mail. What a treat to receive a letter from yourself addressed to yourself!
Here are seven prompts to help you write your letter. Remember these prompts are only suggestions. Use as many or as few as you’d like in your letter.
