There are many health benefits of owning a pet. They can increase opportunities to
exercise, to go outside, and to socialize. Regular walking or playing with pets can
decrease blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and unhealthy triglyceride levels. Pets can
help manage loneliness and depression by giving us companionship.

How many of the eight dimensions of wellness are covered by owning a pet? Pets also
teach responsibility and can be sources of unconditional love. We treat pets as humans,
and they can be our best friends.
