Pop art is a type of art that uses everyday objects and images from popular culture, like comic books, advertisements, and things we see on TV. Artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein made artwork using bright colors and bold designs. Instead of painting traditional things like people or nature, pop artists took things that were familiar to everyone, like soup cans or comic strips, and turned them into art. Pop art is fun and colorful, and it shows how art can be made from things we see around us every day!
Art Activity: We used socks, rubber bands, and stuffing to create soft sculptures of everyday objects inspired by the work of pop artist Claes Oldenburg.
